FLEYE SS13 – the Origami Collection
FLEYE’s SS13 look is the result of an inspirational collaboration with the young but renowned Danish architect and origami artist Amanda Betz. The new FLEYE collection is crafted in slim Japanese beta-titanium with elegant and refined patterns cut into the titanium fronts.
Using her own special origami techniques, Amanda Betz has interpreted these patterns and made some beautiful large-scale paper creations to accompany the eyewear designs in FLEYE’s visual universe.
In the same way that Amanda Betz uses the finest origami folding techniques to make her paper creations, FLEYE use the finest design techniques to craft their eyewear.
Origami (折り紙, ori means “folding” and gami means “paper”)
is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. Since its invention around the 17th century, it has evolved into a modern art form. The goal of origami is to transform a sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding techniques and without the use of cuts or glue.
FLEYE (short for “Fine Looking EYE”)
is a Danish eyewear brand sold in more than 30 countries. The eyewear is known for its exceptional comfort, allergy-friendly materials and innovative colour combinations. FLEYE has won the prestigious “Eyewear of the Year” award at the IOFT trade fair in Japan for two consecutive years (2012 and 2013).
